Total Specific Solutions (“TSS”) has acquired the digital library software company Digibis as a valuable addition to Baratz, the existing TSS company with an Integrated Library System (ILS) for public and private customers.

Digibis is a digital library software company that mainly focuses on libraries, archives, museums, and documentation centers. They also provide a metadata-enriched digitalization service, which, as their software, strictly adheres to the national and international regulations for this domain.

Martijn Aardema, General Manager at TSS: “We are excited that Digibis has chosen to become part of TSS. We believe that by combining Digibis with Baratz, both companies can bring added value to their clients. We can focus on sharing best practices, not just from TSS but also between Baratz and Digibis, and thereby bringing the customers more value. The companies’ solutions overlap but primarily focus on different market segments. Digibis also offers digitization solutions, which are a great addition to the total market offering.
I am very pleased that Tachi Hernando de Larramendi, the current managing director, has chosen TSS as the perpetual owner of Digibis. And that during the coming period, she will help the Managing Director of Baratz Juan Repiso Arteche become familiar with Digibis and the team and ensure a smooth transition. After that, she will retire and start a new journey in her life.

Juan Repiso Arteche, MD of Baratz: “We are thrilled that the software company Digibis will join TSS and Baratz in Spain. It will allow us to continue growing and expanding our market offering. I look forward to working with Tachi Hernando de Larramendi, ensuring a good transition, and then leading the Digibis team as a part of the TSS group in Spain.”

Tachi Hernando de Larramendi, current MD of Digibis: “DIGIBÍS was founded in 1996, the result of the vision of Ignacio Hernando de Larramendi. He was a true entrepreneur with an international vision. I took over the company in 2001 and have continued his work also focusing on the creation of digital or virtual libraries as well as digital archives and museums and developing our software that harvests metadata using OAI-PMH. All this offers a metadata-enriched digitalization service, which, as our software, strictly adheres to international regulations from Europeana, the W3C, and the Library of Congress. It is time for me to retire and hand over the reins. This company has been part of my family for so long we had to find the best owner. TSS is a perpetual owner, and Baratz also has an outstanding reputation in our domain. By joining forces, I feel Digibis will honor my father’s vision. As part of a software company, we can increase the user experience for our market and continue for our employees and clients. I look forward to helping Juan Repiso during the transitional period and then pursuing my other interests when I retire.”
